    In-person Appointments

While I have been utilizing Telemedicine since 2018, there are limitations. I find that in person appointments allow for a quality of medical care that can be difficult to capture over a video chat. Physical exam is limited for example and if I must give test orders, labs, or prescribe medicine, separate arrangements must be made. In addition, technical difficulties can occur leading to poor image, audio, or system outages. And technology cannot always capture what the presence of human touch and being in the same room can.

    Telemedicine Appointments

Telemedicine refers to the practice of caring for patients remotely when the provider and patient are not physically present with each other. Advances with modern technology now allows doctors to do appointments with patients using HIPAA compliant tools.

Physicians and patients can share information in real time from one computer screen to another. And they can even see and capture readings from medical devices at a faraway location. Using telemedicine software, patients can see a doctor for diagnosis and treatment without having to wait for an appointment. Patients can consult a physician at the comfort of their home.
